New Year's Writing Activity

I can hardly believe that 2017 is almost here!  This past year has had plenty of ups and downs but I'm choosing to focus on the positives of 2016.  As we look at the new year ahead, many of us are beginning to set goals and make resolutions for the new year.  When we return to school in January, I love to talk with my Kindergarteners about their own hopes and dreams for the year ahead.

Here are a couple of my favorite books for talking about the New Year.  Just click below to find them on Amazon!

As a class, we love to share our goals with each other.  I write students' ideas down on chart paper to help spark ideas for those who are having a harder time coming up with a goal.

We love to make class books!  Once our goals are set, we write about them and put our pages together in a book.

You can grab this freebie from my Teachers Pay Teachers shop by clicking on the image below!
There are 3 different sentence frames and a book cover in color or black & white.

What are your goals for 2017?
Share them in the comments below!

Primary Punchbowl Fall Blog Hop

Welcome to the Primary Punchbowl Fall Blog Hop!  If you've arrived via another member of The Punch Bunch, welcome!  If this is your first stop, you're in for a real treat!

The air has become crisp, the leaves are changing color, and there is pumpkin everything everywhere!  #pumpkinaddict  I hope you'll find some fun ideas along the way, pick up some fantastic freebies, find some great sales, and enter to win some awesome prizes!

My favorite fall activity is our annual field trip to the pumpkin patch.  Living in a big city, our local pumpkin patch is brought in on trucks and set up in vacant lots.  But that doesn't mean it can't be magical for the kids!  There are pumpkins, a hay maze, and a hay ride, too!
To get there, we always take public transit.  The kids have an absolute blast! (And the teachers are thoroughly exhausted!  Ha!)

My Kinders absolutely love write the room activities.  I'll take any chance I can to get them up and moving around the room.  We spend a lot of time working on numbers and using ten frames in October.  I created this Pumpkin Count the Room activity to celebrate the season.  You can get this freebie here or by clicking on the picture below!
Please be kind if you download and leave feedback!

But wait, there's more!  My four featured items on TpT are also on sale!  These items are 50% off from October 11th - October 18th!  You can see these units in my TpT store here.

You can also search TpT for all of the featured products on sale using #primarypunchbowlfallhop.

We're not done yet!  How'd you like to win some TpT cash?!

Monday Made It: ABC Jar & a FREEBIE!

I'm super excited to link up with Tara at 4th Grade Frolics for her Monday Made It linky!  This project has been on my to do list all summer and I finally got it done!

Alphabet Calming Jar

I found an amazing tutorial on Preschool Inspirations.

Here's how I made mine:
I gathered an empty VOSS bottle (the small one is pictured but I used a 850mL bottle), 2 bottles of corn syrup, hot water, uppercase letter beads, and a hot glue gun.

Step 1:
Place the letter beads in the jar.  I got my beads here.

Step 2:
Add corn syrup.  You'll want to use light corn syrup.
I filled my bottle about 80% of the way full.

Step 3:
Add just a little bit of hot water.

Step 4:
Have your adorable assistant shake it up!

Step 5:
Add more corn syrup until you have the consistency you want.
Once you are happy with it, use the glue gun to seal the lid.

Still with me?
For hanging in there, I've got a FREEBIE for you!

Alphabet Jar Flip & Find recording sheets!
Please remember to leave feedback if you download the freebie!

The shipping was super fast, too!  Are you headed to Vegas this summer?  What better way to let people know who you are than with a t-shirt promoting your blog or store?!  If you order by June 15th, your shirt will arrive in time for the big conference.

Baseball Unit (Week 1) and a FREEBIE!

This is my grandfather.
He is one of the reasons I love baseball.  Like a lot.
Even more, I love to share my love of the game with my students.
Our baseball unit lasts 2-3 weeks.  Yep, I love it that much!

Katie over at Little Warriors has 2 fantastic baseball units
and many of these activities came from
  here and here.

We always begin with learning about what you need to play the game.
Then the kids label the items on their own.
We learned the words to Take Me Out to the Ballgame
I had to change "home team" to "Giants" of course.

Our centers were all baseball themed as well.

The response sheet is a freebie from

We also made these ADORABLE ballplayers.

We didn't stop there.  Our Math Stations had a baseball theme as well!

This activity is from Lanier's Lions.

Another great activity from Katie's units.

This activity is from KinderMyles.

And since you've stuck with me through all of this, I have a freebie for you!

You can find my Baseball Label It! activity here.

Please leave feedback if you download it!
